longueville house
Traditional design principles overlooking the Lane Cove river.
A new house in a beautiful spot on the Lane Cove River facing west. The brief was to create a house built with traditional design principles and to use elements to deal with the hot western sun as it would have been dealt with a long time ago.
The Latin origin of the word ‘tradition’ comes from the word ‘traderre’ – to carry forward, to transmit, to hand over, to give for safe keeping. Tradition changes slowly and may be adapted to the needs of the day respecting what has gone before.
